They counter balance the glasses. This is to keep the glasses from just sliding off your face when you look down.

Weight preferences are very hard to guess before trying loose arms. The two weights needs to equal each other or tilting may happen. But whether you like the weights heavier or lighter is impossible for me to tell you. So using cages you can
What can you put in the cages?
These are Sold Empty (We do have other products with caged crystals available). You can put anything that you can fit into them. Small trinkets, dice, tumble crystals, carved crystals, marbles, and more. [Careful to not hold a cage open as the wire can bend and remain stuck open (see final picture)]
What is the difference between the New $6 Crystal Cages and the old $2 Sphere Cages?
The $6 Cages have higher quality metals which means a sturdier cage. Less tangling because the wire doesn't spread as easily. And piece of mind about losing any crystals also due to the extra sturdiness in the wire.

Thingymabob chains end with a lobster clasp clip making the weights interchangeable.
"What if I'm not sure what size weight I need?"
We suggest the more active you are the heavier the weight. BUT weight depends on each individual's own comfort, and I was surprised to find out myself how light I like my own. So if you are new to thingymabobs we suggest buying the sphere cages also pictured with every chain, they are too light on their own but allow you to change the weight by caging crystals, dice, and other small trinkets.
